The Soo Greyhounds delivered a composed and disciplined performance to defeat the host Vaughan Rangers 4–1 on Saturday, April 18th at the 2026 OHF U15AA Championships in Vaughan.
With both teams entering the matchup at 1–2 in round-robin play, the game carried significant weight, and the Greyhounds rose to the occasion to secure their place in the semifinals.
Soo opened the scoring in the first period at 6:55, as Jackson Marchand netted his goal off a setup from Jakob Mullin, giving the Greyhounds a 1–0 lead heading into the intermission.
The Greyhounds extended their advantage in the second period with a pair of goals. At 5:08, James Stevens made it 2–0, finishing a play from Kyle Wallenius. Just over a minute later at 3:48, Riely Deplonty added to the lead with a goal assisted by Ethan Myers, putting Soo firmly in control at 3–0.
The Rangers responded early in the third period. At 1:19, Gianni Lombardozzi scored for Vaughan, with assists from Matthew Louka and Matteo Bonadie, cutting the deficit to 3–1 and giving the home side a spark.
However, the Greyhounds quickly shut the door on any comeback hopes. With just 19 seconds remaining, Cohen Kellar sealed the victory with an unassisted goal to make it 4–1.
In goal, Teri Mayer delivered a strong performance for the Greyhounds, turning aside key chances to preserve the lead, while Antonio Athanasiadis took the loss for the Rangers.
With the win, the Greyhounds advance to the semifinal, where they will face the Greater Toronto Capitals in the opening semifinal game at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 19th, as they continue their pursuit of a championship at the 2026 OHF U15AA Championships.
