Greyhounds Acquire Blueliner Lukas Moore from Frontenacs for a Pair of Draft Picks

Soo Greyhounds General Manager announced Tuesday, September 8th, the acquisition of 19-year old defenceman Lukas Moore and a 4th Round Pick (BFD, 2028) from the Kingston Frontenacs.

In exchange Kingston receives a 6th Round Pick (KGN, 2028) and 4th Round Pick (SOO, 2030) from the Hounds.

“As we’ve moved through training camp and our pre-season schedule, we’ve been encouraged by our defence group, particularly the young players competing for spots and taking on bigger roles. At the same time, we identified that we could use some additional depth on the right side”, began Raftis.

He then added, “Rather than waiting to see how things settled once the season got underway, we felt it was important to be proactive and look for a player who could come in and fit with our group right away. Lukas gives us that opportunity. He’s getting a fresh start with us and a chance to continue the development of his game, while we’re adding a veteran defenceman who can play in a number of different situations and give us some added flexibility throughout our lineup. Having some time before the regular season also gives Lukas an opportunity to get comfortable with our program, our systems and his teammates, which will allow him to hit the ground running as we get ready for the season.”

Moore was originally drafted in the 4th Round of the 2023 OHL Priority Selection by Kingston.

Over the past two seasons, the Courtice, Ontario product has appeared in 89 regular season games compiling four goals and nine assists, good for thirteen points.

Last season the 6.03, 201 rearguard was 2nd in team plus-minus, with +18 on the season.

“I’m really excited for the fresh start and the new opportunity. I’ve heard nothing but great things about the organization, and I’m looking forward to getting to know the boys and the coaching staff. I’m ready to get started, get to work, and be a part of the Greyhounds,” stated Lukas.
