
Soo Greyhounds General Manager Kyle Raftis announced Monday, January 9th that the club has acquired right winger Julian Fantino from the Owen Sound Attack in exchange for right winger Landen Hookey.
The team’s also exchange their own 15th Round Selections in the 2026 OHL Priority Selection.
Fantino, 18, was originally selected in the eighth Round of the 2020 OHL Priority Selection by the Attack. In 89 career regular season games played, the Woodbridge, Ontario native has 6 goals and 18 assists, good for 24 points.
This season the 6.00, 180-lb winger has 3 goals and 11 assists in 34 games played.
“Landen has been a great ambassador of our program and we wish him all the best in Owen Sound” started Raftis.
“We are looking forward to adding Julian to our group. Combining speed, skill and determination he should be a good fit moving with our forward group” he added.
The deal comes as the OHL Overage Trade deadline has passed, thus finalizing that Kalvyn Watson, Mark Duarte and Ryan Thompson will complete their major junior careers with the Greyhounds.
The deadline for all other players is 12:00 p.m on Tuesday, January 10th.
Action for the Greyhounds resumes later this week when the club heads out on the road for a three-game trip that will take them to North Bay Thursday, January 12 (7 PM), than Barrie Saturday, January 14 (7:30 PM) and Sudbury on Sunday, January 15 (2 PM).
