Over the November 7th to 10th weekend, the Soo U18 Greyhounds wrapped up their run at the 2024 Big Nickel Tournament in Sudbury, Ontario with a 1-3 record, showing grit and determination throughout the competition.
The team secured their lone victory with a hard-fought 3-1 win over the FEIA Falcons, but faced tough challenges in their other matchups. In a thrilling 4-3 overtime loss, the Greyhounds battled valiantly but fell short against a skilled opponent, the Burlington Eagles in the opening game of the tournament. Later in the tournament, they suffered a 6-4 defeat to the Markham Waxers, despite a strong offensive effort, and a narrow 2-1 loss to the Peterborough Petes in a defensive showdown. While the results didn’t go their way, the Greyhounds showcased resilience and promise, setting the stage for continued growth as they prepared for the remainder of their season.
Next action for the U18 Greyhounds will be on Wednesday, November 20th when they face the U16 Greyhounds in a midweek clash at the John Rhodes Centre in Sault Ste Marie with a puck drop of 5:00 p.m.
