Colts Roll Past Wolverines in Week Four Junior High School Action

On Thursday, September 25th, the first-place Korah Colts extended their unbeaten run with a commanding performance against the White Pines Wolverines in Sault Ste. Marie High School Football action at Superior Heights Field.

The Colts wasted no time setting the tone. Just before the midway point of the opening quarter, quarterback Davien Clark powered through the defensive line for a one-yard touchdown, with kicker Nolan Coudert adding the extra point for a 7-0 lead. Moments later, Clark connected with James Yule on a four-yard pass to extend the advantage to 13-0. Running back Kaleb Laitinen then made his mark with a 27-yard carry, and with Coudert’s conversion, Korah held a 20-0 lead by the five-minute mark. Laitinen struck again before halftime, rushing for an 18-yard score to push the Colts ahead 26-0.

The second half saw more of the same from Korah’s high-powered offense. At 10:50 of the third quarter, Clark kept the ball and broke free for a 27-yard rushing major, and with Coudert’s kick, the Colts stretched the lead to 33-0. Laitinen added his third touchdown of the afternoon with a six-yard carry, followed by another conversion, before Damian McGaughey sprinted 42 yards for a score to make it 47-0 late in the third.

White Pines finally broke through in the fourth quarter when Shamus Cochrane delivered a highlight-reel 52-yard touchdown run, stiff-arming two defenders and breaking a pair of tackles on his way to the endzone. But Korah quickly responded, with Clark finding McGaughey on a four-yard passing strike to cap the scoring and seal a 53-6 victory for the Colts.

Korah quarterback Davien Clark told Saultsports that “I love how our O-Line got to the ball quick and helped give me every second to throw the ball or hand off the ball I appreciate all of my running backs as well they fought for every single yard we had so I give props to them as well I can’t do anything without my team.”

With the win, Korah continues to sit atop the standings, while White Pines remains in fourth place. Next week, the Colts will face the St. Mary’s Knights, and the Wolverines will meet the Superior Heights Steelhawks. Both matchups are set for Superior Heights Field, with 4:45 p.m. kickoffs and live coverage available on Saultsports TV.
