The Korah Colts took to the field on Saturday, September 10 to open the 2022 Sault Ste Marie High School football season when they met the Superior Heights Steelhawks at Superior Heights in senior high school football action.
At 9:52 of the opening quarter, Korah’s Ty Koski found the uprights with a 20 yard field goal to give the Colts a 3 – 0 lead. The Colts lead increased to 5 – 0 at the 4:43 mark of the first quarter with a Korah safety. Cole Barbeau rushes for the first touchdown of the 2022 high school senior season with a 55 yard carry to bring the Colts lead to 11 – 0. Koski added the extra point with a Korah convert at 4:27 of the first. With eighty one seconds remaining in the opening quarter, Gabe Byron carries the ball for a 22 yard touchdown run to increase the Colts lead to 18 – 0. Koski kicks his second successful convert to give Korah a 19 – 0. Jesse Burella gives the Colts a 25 – 0 lead with a 12 yard run at 6:01 of the second quarter. Koski added the extra point for a Korah convert.
Barbeau runs 62 yards for his second major of the game for Korah at 3:01 of the second, Koski brings the lead to 33 – 0 with the Colt convert. Koski sends the Colts into halftime up 36 – 0 with 2.9 seconds left in the half with a ten yard field goal. Superior Heights quarterback Gabe Barkley runs for a Steelhawk touchdown with a three yard carry at 2:31 of the third quarter to bring the game to 36 – 6. 2:52 into the final quarter, Erik Martone catches a Gabe Byron three pass to run one yard to give the Colts a 42 – 6 lead at the 9:08 mark of the quarter. Koski secures a Korah 43 – 6 win with a Korah convert.

The Colts next opponents will be the St Mary’s Knights on Friday, September 16th with a 7:30 p.m kickoff while the Steelhawks have a week two bye before taking on the Knights on Friday, September 23rd at 7:30 p.m. The 2022 regular season schedule will be broadcasted live on Saultsports TV Youtube channel.
