Under the lights on October 28th, the Korah Colts took to the turf at Superior Heights to meet the St Mary’s Knights in the junior 2021 Sault Ste Marie High School Football City Championships. The Colts advanced to the championship with a win over the White Pines while the Knights edged the Steelhawks in the other junior semi-final.
44 seconds into the 2021 city championships, Korah’s Nathan Guizzetti rushes the ball for a 69 yard touchdown carry to give the Colts a 6 – 0 lead. Ty Koski found the uprights for the extra point for the Colts. At 7:56 of the quarter, Jarrett Dewer runs into the Knights endzone for the second major for the Colts with a 29 carry, Koski added the convert to bring the lead to 14 – 0. Scoring his touchdown of the championships, Dewer evades three tackles to rush the ball for a 19 yard touchdown to increase the lead to 20 – 0 at 2:18 of the first quarter. Koski went three for three on the Colts third convert to give Korah a 21 – 0 lead. Giving the Colts a 28 – 0 lead with Koski kicking another convert after Kaylob Thibodeau runs for a nine yard Korah touchdown at 9:17 of the second. Korah quarterback Erik Martone holds on to the ball for the Colts to run three yards through the Knights defensive line to score Korah’s fifth major of the half at 7:11. Koski had another successful convert to add the extra point for Korah. With 10.1 remaining the half, Thibodeau sends the Colts into half up 42 – 0 with a two yard carry after a Koski convert.
Korah’s Ryan Palumbo scores the Colts seventh touchdown of the game at 8:31 of the third to bring the lead to 48 – 0. Koski convert brought the lead to 49 – 0. Scoring the final touchdown of the 2021 season for the Colts was Mason Battocchio at 9:33 of the third quarter. Koski kicked his final convert of the season to give Korah a 55 – 0 lead. As the buzzer sounded on the 2021 junior Sault Ste Marie High School Football season, Brayden Luzzi runs for a 52 yard touchdown for the Knights. With an unsuccessful two point conversion, the Colts were crowned the 2021 junior champions with a 55 – 6 win over St Mary’s.
