The road to the 2026 Sault Ste. Marie Girl’s High School Hockey League City Championship continued on Wednesday, February 11th, as semi-final action took over the John Rhodes Centre. The opening game of the day featured the first-place Korah Colts and 2026 regular season champions facing the fourth-place St. Mary’s Knights, followed by an early afternoon matchup between the second-place Superior Heights Steelhawks and the third-place CASS Huskies. With a spot in the best-of-three City Championship series on the line, both games delivered high-intensity playoff hockey.
In the opening semi-final, the Korah Colts controlled the tempo and blanked the St. Mary’s Knights 5–0 to earn their place in the championship series. After a scoreless first period, Harlee Cote opened the scoring at 10:34 of the second period, netting her first goal of the postseason with an assist from Aubrey Colletti. The Colts doubled their lead at 7:16 on the power play when Colletti scored her first of the postseason, set up by Cote. Late in the frame, Journey Tegosh made it 3–0 at 0:35, finishing a play started by Nikki Steinburg.
Korah continued to press in the third period, with Cote striking again at 14:07 to make it 4–0, assisted by Sarah Sousa. Just under four minutes later, Cote completed the hat trick at 10:13 with an unassisted marker to cap the scoring. In goal, Britton Notte earned the shutout for the Colts, while Natalia McDonald handled the crease duties for the Knights.
The second semi-final saw the Superior Heights Steelhawks take on the CASS Huskies in a tightly contested matchup. Superior Heights opened the scoring at 13:18 of the first period, with Ava Mount recording her first goal of the postseason on an unassisted effort. Grace Curran extended the lead to 2–0 at 7:21, converting a setup from Alexe Villebrun and Zara Zavoral. The Huskies responded at 3:40 when Kendall Kleist scored her first of the postseason, assisted by Riley Reed, to cut the deficit to one. However, Superior Heights restored their two-goal cushion late in the period at 0:26, as Alexe Villebrun scored unassisted to make it 3–1.
In the second period, CASS pulled closer on the power play at 8:58, with Kleist netting her second of the postseason, assisted by Kalie Cooke and Riley Reed. Despite the push from the Huskies, the Steelhawks held firm, and Villebrun sealed the win with an empty-net goal at 0:38 of the third period, her second of the game and postseason, once again unassisted. Kaydence Wardell backstopped Superior Heights in the victory, while Cassidy Cooke tended goal for the Huskies.
With their semi-final victories, the Korah Colts and Superior Heights Steelhawks have officially punched their tickets to the best-of-three 2026 Sault Ste.
