Big Weekend for Sault Ice Hawks Ringette, Ice Hawks Bring Home Two Golds and One Silver

Over the February 9th to 11th weekend four teams from the Sault Ringette Club invaded Southern Ontario to take part in the Guelph Ringette Association Tournament. Three of those teams took home medals!

The U12A Ice Hawks brought home a gold medal getting a decisive 5-1 final win over their rival of the year the Dorchester Dragons. The 12As ran a perfect round robin going 3-0 and getting the bye into the finals. Their next tournament action will be here in Sault Ste. Marie March 22-24 during the North East Regional Championships which the Sault Ringette Club will be hosting. Teams from all across the region in various age groups will be in town to compete over the weekend.

The U14B Ice Hawks also brought home the gold picking up a 4-2 win over Waterloo in the finals. They finished their round robin in first place with a 2-0-1 record which secured their spot in the Sunday final. Their next tournament will also be the North East Regionals in late March.

The U14A Ice Hawks streak of three straight tournament wins came to an end as they came home with a hard fought silver medal. The U14As finished the round robin in second place with a 2-1-1 record. They were able to beat Forest 5-3 in the semi final before dropping the final to a strong Mitchell team 6-2. Their next tournament action will be the Ringette Ontario Provincial Championships March 14-17 in Waterloo, Ontario.
