On November 19th and 20th, our Thunderbirds hosted the McMaster Marauders for the first set of home games this basketball season. Although no in-person spectators were permitted for these games due to current positive case numbers in the Sault, the teams certainly filled the GLC with noise and energy.
Our WBB teams held strong over the weekend, but suffered two losses. Friday game left the women’s team hungry, with a loss of 73-53. Top scorer for the game was Megan Looney with 23 points. Game two ended with a final score of 83-53. Top scorer of the game was Bethany Balaktsis with 18 points.
Our MBB team left everything on the court. With a couple unfortunate events, the team faced two losses. The final score in game one was 96-78, with Maxime Bellony being the top scorer with 23 points overall. Game two left us with an injured player and a loss of 81-38. Top scorer for game two was Roman Niro with 14 points. Despite a tough weekend, we are proud of how resilient our Thunderbirds were when getting back onto the court.
The teams play Waterloo on November 26th and 27th. We are continuing our protocols and will not be hosting in-person spectators. However, you can catch the games from the comfort from your home on OUAtv.
