As we prepared for the 2022 Sault Ste Marie High School Senior Football season, we figured we’d get ahead of it. The thought — let’s use the phones glued to their hands as part of the theme for this fall’s high school football preview. We landed on social media. Then, the wheels started turning. This group of athletes will be showcase as our “influencers” in their respective programs and communities. Now, the question… what’s next?

I love playing the game I love with my second family

Jamal Adams

In addition to varsity football, you are on varsity soccer at St Mary’s College too, is there alot of pressure to be a multisport high school athlete and how do you deal with it?
Honestly there is no pressure because I always think of myself the underdog

Do you have a pre-game ritual?
Usually I take an ice bath and listen to my pre game songs.

What is a tip that you would give another student athlete to find success in school and in their sport?
Never give up on yourself because if you put the work in you will see success.

What is your favorite song right now?
One kiss by (Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa)

How long have you been playing football?
Five years

How is the team looking next year?
We have a chance to win it’s this year

What’s it like before each game and what’s your routine for the day of?
I’m usually really calm game day until I hit the field. Before games I like to take an ice bath usually eat lots of carbs for energy and drink lots of water.

Do you want to continue playing football after high school?
I would love to play university football

What’s your favorite thing about playing football?
All the guys, there like a family to me.

What’s the best thing that football has taught you?
You can’t do it all yourself.

So, where do you feel you’ve made your biggest improvements since preparing for the 2022 football season?
I’ve gotten a lot faster, smarter, and stronger since my last season. I’m at my peak performance this year.

What do you think the potential is for this defense for 2022?
I think our defense has really good improvements from last year and we’re most likely going put our best players both sides.
