What do you love most about Korah Colts senior football?
What I love most about the Korah senior football program is the relationships that are formed while on the team. Family is one of the team’s core values and I think it perfectly describes how the guys on the team feel about each other.

Who have been your greatest influences?
My greatest influences on the team have been Michael Nicoletta and Nathan Keranen. They have been great leaders and have taught me a lot as I play the same positions as them. They have provided me guidance and helped me become a better player and teammate.

In addition to varsity football, you are on varsity hockey and soccer at Korah too, is there alot of pressure to be a multisport high school athlete and how do you deal with it?
There is a lot of pressure to be a multi sport athlete and maintain a high academic standard. I deal with the pressure by taking on each task as they come and prioritizing which tasks are the most important and need to be done first.

Do you have a pre-game ritual?
Yes I do. Thirty minutes before I leave for the field I drink a black coffee and listen to music until it is time to head to the field to prepare with my teammates. It mostly just helps me focus in on the game and helps me get my excitement and energy up.

What is a tip that you would give another student athlete to find success in school and in their sport?
A tip I would give to student athletes anywhere is perfect your time management skills. Participating in the IB program at Korah while also participating in athletics was extremely challenging for me. I found that when I sat down and planned what needed to be done and figured out how much time I was going to need for each task, I could complete each task one by one by simply following my timeline. This helped make the experience less stressful and also meant that I could enjoy my athletics without having to worry about whether or not it was going to interfere with my academics.

What is your favorite song right now?
My favourite song at the moment is probably Outside by Calvin Harris, however, my all-time favourite song is Shoot to Thrill by ACDC and I listen to it before any sporting event, specifically hockey and football.

How long have you been playing football?
I have been playing football for five years now. This year will be my sixth year playing the sport.

How is the team looking next year?
I think the team is looking great. Everyone has been working hard in the offseason and I think it is going to show during the season.

What’s it like before each game and what’s your routine for the day of?
The lead up to each game and specifically from the time we get to the field to kickoff is extremely exciting. The energy in the locker room is extremely high and I have never really experienced anything like it in any other sport. For my day off I usually sleep in a little bit. Once I wake up I usually make myself breakfast and watch some TV before I head to the gym. After the gym I’ll come home and most times have schoolwork that needs to be done. Once I finish up my schoolwork I’ll hangout with some friends until it is time to come home and go to sleep.

Do you want to continue playing football after high school?
I would love to play post secondary football. Sports are such an important part of my life and if I was given the opportunity to play for even longer then I would absolutely love that.

What’s your favorite thing about playing football?
My favourite thing about football is that it is a couple hours of my day that I can dedicate to doing something that I enjoy without having to worry about anything else. It helps me step away from anything that may be stressful for a little while, clear my head, and come back to it in a better mood. I also love to compete and football gives me the opportunity to do so against my peers. The family aspect of football is also very important to me and I enjoy seeing my teammates and coaches every time I step out onto the field.

What’s the best thing that football has taught you?
The best thing that football has taught me is perseverance. Sometimes things can get difficult or you have obstacles that need to be overcome. Football has taught me that patience and continuing to push forward can help you get over any difficulties you are experiencing.

So, where do you feel you’ve made your biggest improvements since preparing for the 2022 football season?
I feel that I’ve made large improvements in my speed and strength through my post season training. I have progressed a lot from last year and think that it will definitely benefit me this season.

What do you think the potential is for this offense for 2022?
I think that this offence has a ton of potential and that it has the talent to lead us to another OFSAA ring this year if we keep up the hard work.
