Sault Ste. Marie’s Steel City Ignite Volleyball Club competed in the Ontario Volleyball Association Beach Tour on July 10th, 2022 in Pickering, Ontario. Representing the 13U Premier Division was Roxie Wilding & Donna Holzwarth.

The July competition was held in Pickering, Ontario at Chestnut Hills Recreation Complex.

Wilding/Holzwarth went undefeated in the round robin competition before heading into the finals. Wilding/Holzwarth played three close sets earning the silver medal in the final game.

Wilding & Holzwarth’s silver medal at the tournament was Steel City’s Ignite’s second medal in the OVA’s Beach Tour in their first year of competition.

Steel City Ignite’s Kara Paat said: “There is so much more to consider with beach volleyball. Our girls had to bring their skill and knowledge to play smart, while adapting to the elements. They couldn’t have done it better! We are very proud of Roxie and Donna, they worked hard and learned a lot but most importantly they played amazing well as a team and had fun.”
