U18 Greyhounds Score a GNU18HL Win Over U16 Greyhounds in Sault Ste Marie

After a tough 6-5 loss in their first meeting of the season on November 20th against the Soo U16 Greyhounds, the Soo U18 Greyhounds were eager to bounce back when the teams faced off again on Wednesday, December 4th at the John Rhodes Centre. The game started off strong for the U18 Greyhounds, as forward Lucas DiBerardino scored his first goal of the season at 14:29 of the first period, giving his team a 1-0 lead. Just over four minutes remaining in the opening period, U18 forward Alessandro Parco added his eighth goal of the season, extending the lead to 2-0. Despite the U16 Greyhounds fighting back, with Makks Demidovich scoring his fifth goal of the season at 5:32 of the second period, the U18 team maintained control for the rest of the game.

The U18 Greyhounds continued to build on their lead, with Parco adding an empty-net goal for his second of the game and ninth of the season with 35.5 seconds left in the midweek clash, securing a 3-1 win for the U18’s. Both goaltenders were solid in net, with U16 goalie Tanner Carriere facing 26 shots and allowing three goals, while U18 goalie Sebastien Brassard was sharp, also facing 26 shots but only allowing one goal. The victory allowed the U18 Greyhounds to rebound from their earlier defeat and take the win in their second meeting of the season in the GN U18HL action.

Next up for the U16 Greyhounds will be on the road when they head to Waterloo to take part in the Gold Puck AAA Tournament over the December 13th to 15th weekend while the U18 Greyhounds will be a two game home stand on December 21st (8:00 p.m) and December 22nd (12:00 p.m) at the John Rhodes Centre against the Sudbury U18 Wolves.
