As of January 2022, Saultsports Radio will become Northern Sports Radio.
Northern Sports Radio (NSR) is your voice of youth, high school, and collegiate sports in northern Ontario and the Michigan EUP.
NSR has been covering White Pines Wolverines, St Mary’s Knights, Superior Heights Steelhawks, Korah Colts, OCAA/ACHA Sault College Cougars, and the OUA Algoma Thunderbirds with expansion coming in 2022.
As the first and only internet sports radio station and digital media platform that priorities youth, high school, and collegiate sports every day, it is a media game changer for the sport.
It is a place where you can discuss and debate issues in youth, high school, and collegiate sports with others who are passionate about the game. NSR is committed to a comprehensive whole of game coverage. From grassroots to youth, high school, and collegiate sports, NSR covers it all.
Viewers crave live and on-demand sporting events, and sports is one of the most profitable industries in the world.
Northern Sports Radio is owned and operated by TruHous Media with headquarters located in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario.
Today’s audiences have endless choices on where to get their news. To ensure our listeners continue to easily find the trusted local news and information they have come to rely on from Saultsports.com (TruHous Media), this January the company is bringing its local sports radio station across the north under the Northern Sports Radio banner to become a powerhouse local sports news offering in each market.
This is a change in brand identity only. While the name and branding for sports news internet radio station will be updated, loyal listeners will still get the same great reliable content from Saultsports (Sault Ste Marie and Algoma), including the latest sports news, along with the same beloved local on-air personalities.
“Putting our incredible team and all of our resources behind one brand will help to strongly convey who we are to audiences and advertisers, plus it gives us the opportunity to produce more content for social and digital to better serve each community,” said Jay Houslander, President of TruHous Media. “Sports news plays a pivotal role in our organization, providing an essential service for people in the north and we’re excited to make this move to cement our investment in local news. I am so proud of our sports news team and grateful for everything they do.”
Launching alongside the rebrand will be a new unified Northern Sports Radio website and app, where consumers can easily find their local sports news for people in the north.
“You may not know it, but a great radio station branding is the difference between a smash hit station and failure. We want to break out into a new audience, we are looking to grab their attention and give them a taste of what they’re missing. People need to recognize our station at a glance and know our station is an experience like no other,” said Houslander.
The branding for Northern Sports Radio internet station will be unveiled in January 2022, with additional details to be shared in each market at that time.
