Sault Ste. Marie, ON – Over the years, we’ve bounced around with plenty of show names, trying to find one that truly captured the spirit and identity of what we wanted to deliver. After exploring countless ideas, we’ve finally landed on the perfect fit for True North Radio.
The new show, “Beyond the Scoreboard,” represents exactly what we aim to do—look deeper than the final score and highlight the stories, moments, and voices that make sports meaningful. It’s a name that reflects growth, insight, and a clear direction forward, and we’re excited to make it the lasting title moving ahead.
True North Radio is proud to announce the launch of a brand-new weekly show, “Beyond the Scoreboard,” premiering in January 2026. This fresh and insightful program will focus on the heart of local sports in Sault Ste. Marie, Algoma, and Northern Ontario, offering fans a unique perspective on the athletes, teams, and community contributors who make the region’s sports scene thrive.
Unlike other programs, “Beyond the Scoreboard” will go beyond second- and third-hand commentary from parents, coaches, or league officials. The show is dedicated to sitting down with individuals who bring positivity, inspiration, and dedication to local sports, highlighting stories and perspectives that often go unheard.
Jay Houslander will serve as the show’s host, guiding listeners through compelling interviews and in-depth coverage, alongside special guest co-hosts joining each week to add fresh insights and discussion.
“Local sports are about more than scores and standings,” said Houslander. “With Beyond the Scoreboard, we want to shine a light on the people and stories that make our communities proud and showcase the passion that fuels Northern Ontario athletics.”
Listeners can tune in every week beginning January 2026 to get the truth, the stories, and the coverage that only True North Radio can deliver.
