Superior Heights Ty Cond Registers Three Points in Steelhawks Win Over Korah Colts

In a spirited and physical matchup from start to finish, the Superior Heights Steelhawks skated to a well-earned victory over the Korah Colts in Sault Ste. Marie High School Hockey League action on Wednesday, November 12th, at the John Rhodes Community Centre. The two teams battled hard in a midweek clash that saw standout performances on both sides, but it was Superior Heights forward Ty Cond who made the biggest impact, registering three points in the win.

After a scoreless first period where both goaltenders stood tall, the Steelhawks broke through midway through the second. At 13:18, Avery Fowler found the back of the net for his first goal of the season, with assists going to Ayden Hamilton and Cond. Just two minutes later, on the power play, Oliver Austin extended the lead with his fourth of the campaign, once again set up by Hamilton and Cond. The Colts responded in the third when Martino Coccimiglio scored his first of the year at 11:50, assisted by Koen Manchulenko and Max Battacchio, giving Korah some life down the stretch.

With time winding down and the Colts pulling goaltender Will Franic for the extra attacker, the Steelhawks sealed the win as Austin netted his second of the game and fifth of the season with just nine seconds remaining—set up perfectly by Cond, who capped off his three-point night. Riley Orris earned the win in goal for Superior Heights with a solid performance between the pipes.

Superior Heights coach Jamie Greco said that “it was a very competitive game, back and forth. The team worked hard preparing and were able to execute our plan fairly well. Full credit goes to the boys, putting in the work and effort on the ice. Truly a team effort with everyone contributing.”

“Superior Heights came to play today and really delivered a wake up call early on. I think our guys settled in after we went down on the scoreboard and played some hungry hockey but we couldn’t find the back of the net and that cost us. Superior played a great game and deserve a lot of credit for their victory today. We have some glaring needs for practice moving forward and I think that realization bodes well for us moving forward,” added Korah coach Dustin Grondin.
