Over the June 14th to 16th weekend in Sault Ste marie, the Sault Ste. Marie Cricket Club hosted the 2024 North Cup. Teams from across Northern Ontario that included Sault Stormers, Soo X1, Thunder Bay Lions, Thunder Bay Kombans, Timmins Tigers, Sudbury BNCC, Sudbury KCC, and the North Bay Warriors.
These eight teams gathered for an exhilarating tournament that showcased both skill and passion for the sport. Held at the John Rhodes Centre, the tournament featured eight teams from across the city, each eager to claim the coveted championship title. The matches were fiercely contested, with thrilling displays of batting, bowling, and fielding prowess on full display.
Fans were treated to several nail-biting encounters, as teams battled it out under the bright summer sun. In the 2024 North Cup semi finals were Sudbury KCC facing Sudbury BNCC along with the Sault Stormers against Thunder Bay Kombans. The final match was a tense affair, with Sault Stormers facing off against Sudbury KCC in a clash that kept everyone on the edge of their seats. In the end, Sudbury KCC emerged victorious, celebrating their hard-earned triumph amid cheers and applause from the enthusiastic crowd. As the sun set on the tournament, players and fans alike reflected on a weekend filled with camaraderie, competitive spirit, and unforgettable cricketing moments.
