The second game of the evening on Sunday, January 4th saw the Korah Colts and Superior Heights Steelhawks officially open the 2026 portion of the Sault Ste. Marie Boys High School Hockey League season at the John Rhodes Centre in a tightly contested matchup.
Superior Heights struck first late in the opening period on the powerplay, as Ty Cond continued his strong season by scoring his 11th goal at 7:54 to give the Steelhawks a 1–0 lead after one. Korah answered early in the second period with a powerplay goal of their own, when Koen Manchulenko buried his 17th of the season just 1:20 in, finishing a setup from Jackson Burrows and Hayden Joseph to tie the game. The Steelhawks quickly regained the lead only 30 seconds later, as Austin Oliver netted his 10th of the year, with Ayden Hamilton picking up the assist, sending Superior Heights into the third period ahead 2–1.
The final frame remained scoreless until the closing seconds, when Oliver sealed the win with an empty-net goal just eight seconds into the period for his second of the night and 11th of the season, again assisted by Hamilton, securing a 3–1 victory for Superior Heights.
Riley Orris earned the win in goal for the Steelhawks, while Payton Melchiorre turned in a solid effort between the pipes for the Colts.
