Steelhawks Edge Colts in Back-and-Forth Battle at the Rankin

At the Rankin Arena on Monday, November 25th, the Superior Heights Steelhawks and the Korah Colts squared off in Sault Ste. Marie High School Girls Hockey League action, delivering a tight and competitive matchup from start to finish.

in the first, both teams came out skating well, trading chances but unable to solve the goaltenders. The opening frame ended scoreless.

Second period the Superior Heights broke the deadlock just past the midway point of the period. At 10:50, Alexe Villebrum netted her fourth of the season, finishing a setup from Grace Curran to give the Steelhawks a 1–0 lead.

The Steelhawks doubled their advantage less than two minutes later when Fiona Prophet scored her third of the year at 8:56, assisted by Maelle Brown.

Korah responded late in the period, cutting the deficit to 2–1 at 2:48 when Amy Clement scored her first of the season, with Journey Tegosh picking up the assist.

In third period, Korah carried that momentum into the final frame. At 13:59, Journey Tegosh scored her first of the season on a play assisted by Clement, pulling the Colts even at 2–2.

But the Steelhawks had an answer. Alana Johnstone restored the Superior Heights lead at 11:49 with an unassisted effort to make it 3–2.
Prophet then added insurance at 9:36, scoring her second of the night and fourth of the season, again unassisted, to give the Steelhawks a 4–2 lead that held until the final buzzer. Steelhawks netminder Maika Steinburg earned the win between the pipes, while Colts goaltender Britton Notte was tagged with the loss.

The Colts return to action on Wednesday, November 26th, at the Rankin Arena when they host the CASS Huskies at 2:30 p.m. Meanwhile, the Steelhawks next take the ice against those same Huskies on Monday, December 8th, with puck drop also set for 2:30 p.m. at Rankin Arena.
