On Sunday, February 1st at the John Rhodes Centre, the Superior Heights Steelhawks delivered a strong all-around performance as they blanked the CASS Huskies 3–0 in Sault Ste. Marie High School Hockey League action.
The Steelhawks wasted little time opening the scoring in the first period. At 3:51, Carter Neabel found the back of the net for his 5th goal of the season, with Drew Hankinson picking up the assist to give Superior Heights a 1–0 lead. The Steelhawks struck again late in the frame at 1:35 when Cameron Knox scored his 2nd of the season, assisted by Avery Fowler and Ryan Oliver, sending Superior Heights into the first intermission up 2–0.
The second period turned into a defensive battle, with both teams generating chances but neither able to break through. Strong goaltending at both ends kept the score unchanged heading into the final period.
In the third, the Steelhawks sealed the victory at 9:11 when Chase Cerasuolo scored his 5th goal of the season, assisted by Ty Cond, extending the lead to 3–0.
Between the pipes, Riley Orris was perfect for the Steelhawks, turning aside every shot he faced to earn the shutout. Jack Unetic was solid in goal for the Huskies, keeping his team within reach despite the final score.
The CASS Huskies will return to action on Tuesday, February 3rd, when they face the White Pines Wolverines at the Northern Community Centre with a 3:30 p.m. start. Meanwhile, the Superior Heights Steelhawks will close out the 2025–2026 Sault Ste. Marie High School Hockey League regular season with a 3:30 p.m. matchup against the St. Mary’s Knights, also at the Northern Community Centre.
