The St. Mary’s College Senior Girls Soccer team advanced to the 2023 ‘AA’ OFSAA Soccer semi finals on Saturday, June 10th for a 9:00 a.m in Cobourg, Ontario.
St. Mary’s finished the round robin play undefeated with a 4-0 record.
In Game one, the Knights upset the number one ranked Holy Trinity 3-2 in a hard fought battle. Martina Pucci, Alexa Naslovar and Alexa Romano scored for the Knights.
In game two, the Knights toppled Anderson Collegiate for a 3-0. Sammy Guido posted the shutout as Alexa Naslovar, Martina Pucci and Ava Provenzano chipped in with the scoring.
In game three, SMC took on Holy Cross and came up with a 5-1 victory. Ava Provenzano led all scorers with three goals, Abby MacKnight contributed with one and Berlyn Killoran popped in the other.
And to finish the round robin, The Knights defeated Fort Francis 4-0. Provenzano scored again for the Knights, Evelyn Primeau, Berlyn Killoran and Alexa Romano all scored for SMC.
In the quarter finals, SMC were up against Tecumseh from Windsor and advanced to the semi finals with a 3-1 win. Abby MacKnight scored twice and Ava Provenzano chipped in the other.
The Knights will now take in Sir Winston Churchill Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m in the 2023 ‘AA’ OFSAA Semi Finals. Winner will advance to the Gold Medal game at 3:00 p.m and loser will play in the Bronze Medal game at 1:00 p.m.
