Soo U11 Greyhounds Dominate Weekend Series Against Nickel City Cubs in Sault Ste Marie

The Soo U11 Greyhounds showcased an incredible offensive surge over the weekend, shutting out the Nickel City Cubs in all three games of a two-day homestand on Saturday, November 1st, and Sunday, November 2nd, in Sault Ste. Marie.

The young Greyhounds delivered a commanding performance from start to finish, outscoring their opponents by a combined 40–0 across the weekend series.

Saturday, November 1st, the series opened with the Greyhounds making a strong statement, rolling to a 15–0 victory over the Cubs in a game that saw relentless pressure and disciplined play in all three zones.

Sunday, November 2nd the following morning, the Greyhounds picked up right where they left off, earning an 11–0 win in the early matchup before capping off the weekend with a 14–0 shutout in the afternoon finale.

The three-game sweep highlighted the Soo’s deep lineup, balanced scoring, and airtight defensive play, with goaltending that remained perfect throughout the series.

With momentum on their side, the Soo U11 Greyhounds will now prepare for their next challenge as they hit the road to compete in the 2025 Silver Stick Tournament in Sudbury from November 27th to 29th.

The Greyhounds will open tournament play against the Barrie Colts on November 27th at 2:30 p.m., followed by a pair of games on Saturday, November 28th — first against the North Bay Trappers at 11:00 a.m., then facing the Sudbury Wolves at 3:20 p.m.

The Soo U11 Greyhounds enter the Silver Stick with confidence and momentum, ready to represent Sault Ste. Marie on the tournament stage.
