Jamie Henderson (Soo Thunderbirds/NOJHL)
What do you think were the keys to the team’s success in winning both road games this weekend against Espanola and French River?
We have a group who really enjoy being together and working hard on and off the ice. They are eager to get better and we have had some really good practices thus far. Neither game was perfect, far from it, but they really stuck with it and stayed the course.
The team scored a combined 13 goals in two games—what’s been working so well offensively for the Thunderbirds lately?
We actually felt that we left a lot of goals on the table so to speak. We had a lot of chances that we missed both with odd man rushes and breakaways. We have had a pretty balanced attack thus far.
How did the players respond to challenges in the closer 6-4 win over Espanola compared to the more dominant 7-1 performance against French River?
We have discussed this. There are no easy games for us. Every night the team we play is looking to beat us and play their best games.
What areas do you want the team to focus on this week as you build on the momentum from this weekend’s wins?
We have as difficult of a weekend as you can have and we are looking at it as a great opportunity to see where we are as a team at this point. It’s a long season and our goal every day is the same and that is to improve individually and as a collected group.
