More than 55 race cars roared onto the fastest one-third mile oval in the North on Thursday night as Laird Raceway welcomed another packed edition of Thursday Night Thunder on August 6th. Under warm summer skies and in front of full grandstands and a busy pit area, drivers battled for valuable weekly and championship points in five feature divisions, while the always-popular Spectator Drags once again entertained fans during intermission.

Martel Wins Third Straight Spectator Drags
The evening’s intermission belonged to Ty Martel, who continued his dominance in the Spectator Drags.

Dillon Huffman, driving his 2021 Chevrolet Camaro, entered the night after winning the opening week of the competition, but he faced a tough challenge against Martel and his 2025 Chevrolet C8 Corvette, winner of the previous two weeks.

Martel left little doubt, defeating Huffman in two straight races in the best-of-three format to capture his third consecutive Spectator Drags championship and the $100 winner’s prize. Every registered competitor received $50 for participating, making the fan-favourite event one of the highlights of Thursday Night Thunder.

Jordan Sims Charges to Super Late Model Victory
Jordan Sims proved patience pays off in the 25-lap Super Late Model feature.

Starting fifth in the No. 47, Sims worked his way through the field before taking control to earn the feature victory.

Jeremy Van Hoek drove the No. 51 from a third-place starting position to finish second, while Dan Leeck advanced the No. 33 from sixth to third.

Dustin Jackson piloted the No. 61 from fourth to finish fourth, while pole-sitter Jordan Parniak rounded out the top five in the No. 826.

J.P. Delpaggio finished sixth after starting seventh in the No. 6, Steve Hiiemaa drove the No. 50 from ninth to seventh, and Mike Heinonen finished eighth in the No. 56 after starting eighth.

Roddy Bolduc’s evening came to an early end as the No. 79, which started second, was credited with a Did Not Finish.

Laakso Rallies From Ninth to Win Modified Feature
One of the drives of the night belonged to Mark Laakso.

After rolling off ninth in the No. 84, Laakso sliced through the field to capture the 20-lap Modified feature.

Dustin Jackson continued his impressive evening with a second-place finish in the No. 61, climbing from sixth on the grid.

Dan Leeck charged from 11th to finish third in the No. 12X, while J.P. Delpaggio gained eight positions to finish fourth in the No. 22 after starting tenth.

Jason Herrington placed fifth in the No. 78, John Ross finished sixth in the No. 02, Chris Miller was seventh in the No. 15, Owen Brown advanced from 13th to eighth in the No. 12, Jerry Ross finished ninth in the No. 01, and pole-sitter Mark Porpealia completed the top ten in the No. 28.

Three drivers failed to finish, including Dylan Connolly (No. 86), Adam Lapensee (No. 22X), and Leila Whalen (No. 11).

Brad Bibeau Drives From Eighth to Factory Stock Victory
Brad Bibeau put together another impressive charge in the Factory Stock division.

Starting eighth in the No. 80, Bibeau steadily worked toward the front before taking the checkered flag.

Shanna Harten earned second in the No. 711 after starting seventh, while Dale Tucker guided the No. 4 from third to finish third.

Kenn Schwarz climbed from 11th to fourth in the No. 75, Andrew Givens advanced from 12th to finish fifth in the No. 15G, Owen Brown moved from ninth to sixth in the No. 12, Teagan Lapish placed seventh in the No. 77X, Rob Wagner was eighth in the No. 88, and pole-sitter Kayleigh Tucker finished ninth in the No. 4K.

Daniel Bibeau (No. 08), Gregory Johnston (No. 01), and Dyllen Sherrard (No. 84) were all unable to finish.

Couturier Storms From 15th to Factory Fours Win
The biggest comeback of the evening belonged to Dylan Couturier.

Starting deep in the field in 15th, Couturier powered the No. 38F through traffic to claim an outstanding victory in the 20-lap Factory Fours feature.

Chris Pinder finished second in the No. 14M after starting ninth, while Lucas Crosato charged from 18th to third in the No. 22X.

Dawson Wilson drove the No. 77X from 12th to fourth, and Will Siddall completed the top five in the No. 07 after starting 14th.

Shawn Desjardins (No. 17) finished sixth after starting 17th, Seth Ralph (No. 94) was seventh, Dustin Couturier (No. 86) finished eighth, Tim Pascall (No. 76) placed ninth, Taryn McCoy (No. 71) was tenth, Alex Lapensee (No. 8) finished 11th, Cody Herrington (No. 79) was 12th, Andrew Dowding (No. 96T) finished 13th, Madison Tucker (No. 4M) placed 14th, and Chassie St. Jules (No. 03) rounded out the finishers in 15th.

Tyler Mortimore (No. 86X), Harmony Swain (No. 77), and Kohle Kennedy (No. 27) were all credited with Did Not Finish results.

Lorenzo Wins Enduro Feature
The night concluded with the always entertaining 15-lap Enduro feature.

Dayne Lorenzo drove the No. 19 from ninth on the starting grid to earn the feature victory.

Lucas Fabbricino finished second in the No. 95 after starting seventh, while Ashley Morin claimed third in the No. 25 after rolling off third.

Colton Mulvale brought the No. 14 home fourth after starting sixth, John Dubois finished fifth in the No. 57, Kadin Johnston was sixth in the No. 66, Kayden Lapish finished seventh after starting from the pole in the No. 77X, Jackson D’Angelo placed eighth in the No. 4, and James Samara completed the field in ninth with the No. 420.

Looking Ahead to August 13
The action returns to Laird Raceway on Thursday, August 13, for another exciting edition of Thursday Night Thunder.

Fans can once again enjoy a full evening of family-friendly entertainment featuring Super Late Models, Modifieds, Factory Stocks, Factory Fours, Enduros and the popular Spectator Drags.

Grandstands open at 5:00 p.m., qualifying begins at 6:00 p.m., and racing gets underway shortly after 7:00 p.m.

Admission is $25 for adults, while children and youth 17 and under are admitted free, along with seniors aged 75 and older. Pit admission is $35 for all ages.

Drivers interested in competing in the Spectator Drags can register before the event. Every participant receives $50 to race, while the night’s champion takes home an additional $100.
