Week four of the short track racing season in Northern Ontario, 60+ drivers took to Laird Raceway on Thursday Night Thunder in front of 3900+ fans on Thursday, August 3rd waiting in anticipation to see who was going to take home the checkered flag.
In Four Four Cylinder feature, #16 Dyllen Sherrard used lapped traffic to past #12 Fern Mannarino on lap 18 to drive home with the Four Cylinder checkered in week four action. Sherrard broke #5 Tyler Praysner win streak at three with Praysner rounding out the top three in the Four Cylinder feature.
In a entertaining Factory Stock feature from start to finish, Brimley, Michigan’s #44 Chris Tom and #67 Jjarrit Varcoe raced door to door in August 3rd Thursday Night Thunder feature to have Varcoe edge Toms at the finish line with Varcoe capturing first place in the Factory Stock feature at Laird. Desbarats, Ontario #51 Jamie Fox who was only in his second feature of the 2023 race season ended up in third in the Factory Stock division.
In the Super Late Model, division leader #77 Chase Wilson and veteran driver #100-R Jeremy Van Hoek battled for first and second in week four action with Van Hoek holding off young gun Wilson to bring home the feature win in Thunder Night Thunder. The Flying Finn #50 Rob Hiemma earned the third place finish in the Super Late Model feature.
After taking a few years off behind the wheel of a race car, Sault Ste Marie’s #22 J.P Delpaggio needed the final lap to hold up veteran Sault Ste Marie, Michigan’s Tim Aho to win his first feature of the 2023 season in the Modified division with Goulais River #90 Jay Palumbo returned from the pack of the pack after a flat tire to round out the top three in the Modified feature on Thursday, August 3rd.
Racing will return on Thursday, August 10th for Thursday Night Thunder with a FULL Show that will also include bus racing, lawn mower racing and even spectator drags. Grandstands open at 5:00 p.m. Laird ticket pricing will anyone over 75 and under 18 will be FREE in the grandstands. Grandstand pricing will be $20.00 and anyone looking to head to the pits will be $30.00 for Thursday Night Thunder.
