The Northern Ontario Secondary Secondary Athletics Senior Football Championships will be held here in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario on November 13th at Superior Heights with the Korah Colts hosting the Algonquin Barons.
The COVID season has certainly hurt us all in some way or another. But with pain sometimes comes growth opportunities! That has certainly been the case for the Saultsports (TruHous Media).
We ended in March 2020 with the heartache of having a cancelled a spring season and the whole 2020 – 2021 high school sports season, couldn’t do anything with our student athletes until August 2021 and started the athletic year with “no fans in the stands.” We then expanded to 2 tickets per athlete in Sault Ste Marie for high school sports and waiting to hear if and host we can to expand attendance where we can depending on venue size and roster sizes.
The desire to begin live streaming events was the goal for the fall of 2021 but their some lasting effects from the pandemic with the hopes that we could expand into full gameday productions in the future. The COVID restriction of fans has provided the energy to move forward and learn on the fly in order to provide a service for spectators to watch or listen to the games while they cannot attend. In a short amount of time we have developed a plan to offer high school sports for 2021 – 2022 on Saultsports Radio.
