The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) has officially announced the 2025 Women’s Volleyball schedule, and it comes with exciting news for Northern Ontario sports fans. The Sault College Cougars will make their long-anticipated return to the court with a home-opening weekend on October 25th and 26th at the Sault College Health and Wellness Centre, hosting the Niagara Knights. This marks the first time since 2011 that Sault College will field a women’s volleyball team, signaling a major step forward for the school’s athletic program and a proud moment for the local community.
The 2025 season will be the inaugural campaign for the newly re-established Cougars squad, as they bring competitive intercollegiate volleyball back to Sault Ste. Marie. Fans can expect a thrilling test early in the season, as the Cougars hit the road November 1st and 2nd to take on the reigning OCAA Women’s Champions, the Humber Hawks. It’s a daunting matchup for the new program, but also an opportunity to gauge their level against one of the top teams in the country.
Competing in the highly competitive OCAA West Division, the Cougars will square off against elite programs such as the Mohawk Mountaineers, Seneca Sting, and perennial powerhouse Humber Hawks. With a berth at the CCAA National Championship on the line for the division’s best, every match will matter. The return of Sault College women’s volleyball not only re-energizes the campus but also offers a fresh chapter of athletic excellence for young athletes in the region.
