Sarnia Shuts Out the Greyhounds in Sault Ste Marie

The first place (24-13-4-1) Soo Greyhounds returned to action in Sault Ste Marie on Friday, February 11th at the Memorial Gardens when they hosted the fourth place (15-17-3-1) Sarnia Sting in a west division contest.

4:02 into the opening period, Nolan Dann finds the back of Greyhound netminder Tucker Tynan’s net to give the Sting a 1 – 0 lead. Nolan Dillingham and Ty Voit drew the helpers on Dann’s 18th of the season. Theo Hill and Austin Harper set up Ethan Ritchie’s fifth of the season for Sarnia to bring the Sting’s lead to 2 – 0 at the 3:59 mark of the second. Nolan Dann secures a 3 – 0 win over the Soo 4:15 into the third with his second of the contest at 4:15 of the third with Voit registering his second assists of Friday’s contest. Benjmain Gaudreau earned the shutout with making 45 saves in the Sting’s win while Tucker Tynan stopped 22 of 25 shots in the Greyhounds 14th loss of the 2021 – 2022 season.

With the 3 – 0 loss to the Sting, the Soo falls to second in the west with 53 points with the Flint Firebirds moving into first in the west with 54 points with a winon the road in Guelph with a 5 – 4 overtime win over the Storm on Friday evening.

The Greyhounds look to rebound on Saturday, February 12th at home when they host the Sting a 7:07 p.m puck drop in Sault Ste Marie.
