Coming off a 42 – 6 win on June 17th in Aurora, Ontario over the York Lions, the Sault Varsity Sabercats took to the road on Saturday, June 24th to meet the Huronia Stallions in Barrie, Ontario in Ontario Summer Football League action.
In the 31 – 28 win over the Stallions on Saturday afternoon, Ronan Provenzano led the Sabercats with two touchdowns with Daniel Bumbaco and Ethan Charchidi each scored one touchdown a piece with Charchidi’s major coming on a Sabercat interception. Ty Koski also found the uprights for a field goal along with Brandon Vecchio catching an interception in the win over Huronia.
Coach Matt Premo told Saultsports that “we are really happy with the win, our guys battled hard and it was the good team win, we had guys step and play out of position tonight can’t say enough about the effort and toughness our guys displayed.”
“We are going to enjoy the win and get back to practice Tuesday and clean up some of the things we need to work on then we’ll look to finish our three game road swing strong with a win against Quinte,” added Premo.
The Varsity Sabercats will be back on the road for the third straight weekend when they travel to Belleville, Ontario to meet the Quinte Skyhawks in a 6:00 p.m kickoff.
