Owen Fergusson scored twice and Jake Marios stopped 55 shots as the Espanola Paper Kings blanked the Soo Thunderbirds 2-0 at the John Rhodes Community Centre on Saturday, February 3rd.

Fergusson opened the scoring less than three minutes into the game as the NOJHL’s top point getter netted his 29th of the season past Thunderbirds goalie Kolton Bourret.

It stayed that way until late in the second period when Fergusson put home his 30th of the season on a power play to give the Paper Kings, who were blanked 7-0 in their previous meeting in Espanola, the 2-0 lead.

Lucas Signoretti added a pair of helpers for the Paper Kings.

Marios stood tall between the pipes as he blanked a Thunderbirds squad that went 0 for 9 on the power play in the home loss.
