In their third meeting of the 2022 – 2023 Sault Ste Marie High School Hockey League season, the Korah Colts took to the ice to face the St Mary’s Knights at the John Rhodes Centre on Monday, December 12th.

17 seconds into the opening period, Carter Lidstone found the back of Korah netminder Kris Walker’s net to give the Knights a 1 – 0 lead with the lone assist coming from Kyle Scarfone. Carmine Perna sets up St Mary’s second goal of the contest at 805 with Nathan Palmer sinkig the Knights second of the game to give St Mary’s a 2 – 0 lead. With the Knights shorthanded at the 6:58 mark of the period, Daniel Guzzo fires St Mary’s third on an unassisted goal to bring the Knights lead to 3 – 0. Kaylob Thibodeau scores Korah’s first of the game at 2:34 behind Knight goaltender Liam Dubois. Ronan Provenzano and Ashton Sawchyn drew the contributors on Thibodeau’s goal. With nine seconds remaining the first, Provenzano sends the Colts into the first intermission down by only one. Korah’s Connor Chow Lynn and Mason Battocchio added the helpers on Provenzano’s powerplay goal.

Palmer sinks his second of the game at 11:45 of the middle stanza to bring the lead to 4 – 2 with Daniel Bumbaco and Koen Kurylo drawing the assists on Palmer’s goal. Bumbaco increases the lead to 5 – 2 with a Knights goal at 5:45 with Palmer and Caden MacInnes contributing. Thibodeau finds the back of Dubois’ net for his second of the game at 2:39 of the second to close the gap to two for the Colts. Provenzano had the lone helper on Thibodeau’s second of the contest. With St Mary’s on a powerplay. Palmer and Guzzo set up Bumbaco’ second of the game at 6:08 of the third to secure a Knights 6 – 3 win over Korah.

The Knights next opponent will be the Superior Heights Steelhawks on Thursday, December 15th while the Colts take on the Steelhawks on Friday, December 16th LIVE on Saultsports TV. Both games will be at the John Rhodes Centre with games times of 3:30 p.m (Thursday) and 7:30 p.m (Friday).
