Palmer and Guzzo Lead the Knights Past Colts with Three Points Each in High School Action

On Monday, January 16th at the John Rhodes Centre, the second place Korah Colts took to the ice to face the first place St Mary’s Knights in Sault Ste Marie High School Hockey League action.

3:09 into the opening period, St Mary’s Darion Perrault gave the Knights a 1 – 0 lead with Koen Kurylo and Darion Pucci nothcing the contributors on Perrault’s goal. 72 seconds remaining in the period, Dawson Wilson sends the Knights into the first intermission up 2 – 0 with a St Mary’s unassisted goal behind Colt netminder Kris Walker. At 8:12 of the middle stanza, Ronan Provenzano finds the back of St Mary’s goaltender Jaxon Alexander to pull Korah within one. Mason Battochio and Ashton Sawchyn drew the assists on Provenzano’s goal. Nathan Palmer finds the back of the Colts net with the Knights third of the game to give St Mary’s a 3 – 1 lead with Caden MacInnes adding the lone helper at 5:26. With the Knights second unassisted goal of the contest to bring the lead to 4 – 1, Daniel Guzzo sinks a St Mary’s shorthanded goal eight second into the third. Kaylob Thibodeau closes the gap to two for Korah at the 10:43 mark of the period with Owen Avery and Cole Arruda setting up Thibodeau’s goal.

19 seconds after the Colts second of the game, Knight Daniel Guzzo scores his second goal of the game at 10:24 with Nathan Palmer adding the contributors on the Knights fifth. 58 seconds past the midway mark of the period, Carmine Perna finds the back of Walker’s net to increase the lead to 6 – 2. Gabe Zimbaro and Dawson Wilson contributed on Perna’s goal. Nathan Palmer and Daniel Guzzo combine for the assists on St Mary’s seventh of the game at 3:58 with Nik Vecchio finding the back of Korah’s net. With 1:46 left in Monday’s contest, Kyle Scarfone gives the Knights an 8 – 2 win with Carter Lidstone adding the helper.

The Colts return to high school hockey action on Wednesday, January 18th to take on the Superior Heights Steelhawks in a 3:30 p.m puck drop at the John Rhodes Centre while the Knights face Korah on Sunday, January 22nd in a 8:00 p.m start at the Memorial Gardens.
