Over the Saturday, February 4th and Sunday, February 5th weekend, the Soo U18AAA Greyhounds hosted the North Bay U16AAA Trappers in Thessalon, Ontario on February 4th before taking on the Trappers on February 5th in Sault Ste Marie in Great North U18 Hockey League action.
Greyhound forward Callum McAuley led the Soo over the weekend with scoring four goals and assisting on one between the two wins in GNU18HL action while Greyhound netminder Nathan Maguire saw action between the pipes with only allowing three goals in 120 minutes of play.
Soo Greyhound coach Jamie Henderson told Saultsports that “it was great for the team to play in Thessalon last night. We know it meant a lot to Brendan and the Cooke family. He’s been a big part of our team and the support for him and his teammates was awesome.”
“Overall we’ll look to build off the weekend our execution needs to take a big step we know the games will get tighter here in the coming weeks,” said Henderson.

Next up for the Greyhounds will be a three game road trip to face the New Liskeard Cubs on Friday, February 10th in a 8:00 p.m start followed by game two of the weekend in Kapuskasing to meet the Flyers on February 11th for a 7:00 p.m puck drop. Game three will round out the road trip for the Soo with a stop in Timmins for a 10:30 a.m game against the Majors on February 12th.
