Fresh off a 3–0 shutout victory over the CASS Huskies on February 1st, the Superior Heights Steelhawks were back in action Monday, February 2nd at the John Rhodes Centre, taking on the Korah Colts in Sault Ste. Marie Boy’s High School Hockey League play in a fast-paced and high-scoring battle.
The Steelhawks opened the scoring at 13:07 of the first period when Colton McLean netted his fifth of the season, assisted by Ty Cond. Korah answered quickly as Deago Campagna tied the game at 1–1 at 8:42, finishing a play set up by Bodie Belair and Preston Miller. The Colts then grabbed their first lead on the powerplay at 1:44 when Koen Manchulenko buried his 27th of the season with help from Tyler Lang. Superior Heights responded just 35 seconds later as Avery Fowler made it 2–2, scoring his 10th of the year off feeds from Ayden Hamilton and Ryan Oliver.
The back-and-forth continued in the second period with Ty Cond restoring the Steelhawks’ lead at 10:19, converting on assists from Ayden Hamilton and Cameron Knox to make it 3–2. Korah struck again less than a minute later as Campagna recorded his second of the game and 22nd of the season, once again assisted by Belair and Miller. Superior Heights went back in front at 6:40 when Ayden Hamilton scored his fifth of the year off a setup from Cond, but Campagna completed the hat trick at 5:47, tying it 4–4 on a pass from Preston Miller. With just under a minute remaining in the period, Manchulenko gave Korah a 5–4 advantage, finishing his second of the game and 28th of the season with an assist from Will Pusch.
In the third period, the Steelhawks battled to even things up at 14:00 as Chase Cerasuolo scored his sixth of the season, assisted by Curtis Johnson, making it 5–5. However, the Colts responded once more when Campagna tallied his fourth goal of the night at 8:06, again set up by Bodie Belair and Preston Miller. Korah sealed the win late with an empty-net marker at 1:00 as Manchulenko completed his five-goal performance, scoring his 29th of the season unassisted to secure the 7–5 victory.
Between the pipes, Will Franic tended goal for the Korah Colts, while Peter Gartshore was in net for the Steelhawks in the high-energy contest.
Both teams will now shift their focus toward the 2026 Sault Ste. Marie Boy’s High School Hockey League postseason, which begins February 17th at the Northern Community Centre with a 3:30 p.m. start, with matchups to be announced in the coming days.
