LAIRD RACEWAY SET TO HIT THE TRACK JULY 3RD FOR 2025 SEASON OPENER

Weather may have made the early season headlines for the season opener on June 19th for Thursday Night Thunder, but to now it’s Laird Raceway’s time to shine as the popular Northern Ontario oval will kickoff its 2025 schedule with its 2025 season opener about to take to pavement for some short track racing on Thursday, July 3rd.

Looking ahead to July 3rd for the track’s 26th anniversary season where Laird Raceway will see five different divisions take to the track that include Super Late Models, Modifieds, Factory Stocks, Factory Fours, and Enduros along with lawnmower and bus races taking place.

With the new season to begin on July 3rd, the biggest question remains—who will take an early lead in the championship standings? Thursday Night Thunder is just one day away and will set the stage for the battles to come for the 2025 Laird Raceway season. Laird Raceway is a d-shaped, compact 0.333-mile asphalt track nestled in the heart of Algoma, that offers a quintessential short-track experience. Historically, Laird Raceway has been crucial in maintaining the sport’s grassroots appeal, offering intense competition and fostering a close-knit racing community.

Laird Raceway emerges every summer for the last twenty-five seasons as a shining illustration of the ideal venue for this mission. Nestled in the rolling landscapes of Northern Ontario, this track epitomizes the raw, thrilling essence of short-track racing that fans and drivers similarly crave. The unique configuration of Laird Raceway offers an exciting blend of skill and strategy, demanding racers to adeptly navigate its curves and straights. The goal is to challenge drivers in all divisions to drop low in the corners and drift high on the straights. Laird Raceway is steeped in a rich history that dates back to its opening in 1999. Over the decades, it has served as a proving ground for local drivers such as Dustin Jackson, George Wilson, Chase Wilson, Jordan Sims, Michael Gold, Bibeau Brothers, Rick Ellis, Roddy Bolduc, just to name a few.

Come on out and join us for their regular season race night with racing in all five Laird Divisions. Gates Open at 5:00 pm, Qualifying at 6:00 pm, and Opening Ceremonies at 7:00 pm with racing immediately afterwards. Grandstand seating (Adults: $25), Children and Youth (17 and under: FREE), Seniors (75 and up: FREE), and all Pit Pricing ($35).

All grandstand seating is general admission. The lower level of our grandstand is wheelchair accessible. No alcohol or glass containers are allowed into the grounds. No lawn chairs are permitted, however stadium seats can be used in the grandstand. We have ample free parking for fans. Behind our main grandstand is a large play area for the kids, with balls and toys to play with. We have a concession stand on site, as well as a souvenir booth. There is also a “beer garden” area for those that would enjoy an alcoholic beverage while watching the race. At the end of the race night, all grandstands fans are invited to come into the pits to meet their favourite drivers and teams.

The 2025 season opener at Laird Raceway will be action-packed and full of excitement, keeping fans on the edge of their seats on Thursday, July 3rd.
