Knights Sweep Steelhawks in Week Three Girls High School Basketball Action

Sault Ste. Marie, ON – On Thursday, October 16th, the Superior Heights Steelhawks hosted the St. Mary’s Knights in week three of Sault Ste. Marie Girls Junior and Senior High School Basketball play. The Knights took control on both ends of the court, earning victories in both the junior and senior matchups at Superior Heights.

In junior action, St. Mary’s continued their strong early-season form with a 37–27 win over the Steelhawks. The Knights were led offensively by Audrina Blonda, who poured in 14 points, while Madelyn Pavoni added 7 in the victory. For Superior Heights, Izzy Brasard led the way with 11 points, and Lily-Mae Tremblay chipped in 7 as the Steelhawks battled to keep the game close through three quarters before the Knights pulled away late.

The senior matchup followed a similar script, as the St. Mary’s Knights used their depth and perimeter shooting to secure a 47–33 win over the Steelhawks. Perhonen led the charge for St. Mary’s with an impressive 22-point performance, while Nadeau added 7 to round out the scoring leaders. The Steelhawks showed determination throughout the contest, with Rena Brouillard contributing 8 points and both Cecilia Meade and Leahy Yule adding 6 apiece.

With the sweep, St. Mary’s continues to look strong in both divisions as league play reaches the midseason mark.

Week four tips off on Tuesday, October 21st, featuring two matchups: the White Pines Wolverines will visit Superior Heights to take on the Steelhawks, while the Korah Colts host the St. Mary’s Knights at Korah Collegiate. Junior games are scheduled for 5:30 p.m., followed by the seniors hitting the court at 7:00 p.m.
