On Friday, January 12th, the St Mary’s Knights took to the ice to face the Superior Heights Steelhawks in Sault Ste Marie High School Hockey League action at the John Rhodes Centre.
3:56 into the second period, Jagar Vommaro finds the back of Steelhawk netminder Tyler Greco’s net to open the scoring for the Knights. Darian Pucci and Kye Taylor notched the helpers on Vommaro’s goal. 42 seconds before the midway mark of the third, Curtis Bodnar pull Superior Heights even 1 – 1 with a Steelhawk goal behind Knight goaltender Liam DuBois at the 10:42 mark with Cole Cond and Max Morgan drawing the contributors on Bodnar’s tying goal. With 3:37 remaining in the Friday matchup, Anthony Blonda gives St Mary’s a 3 – 2 win over the Steelhawks. Nik Vecchio and Carter Doucette added the assists on Blonda’s game winner.
The Steelhawks and Knights will be back in action against each other for a Monday afternoon matinee on January 15th at the John Rhodes Centre for a 3:30 p.m puck drop.
