The Northern Ontario Hockey Association (NOHA) announced Tuesday, March 26th that the U12 to U15 AAA Teams from North Bay and Sudbury will participate in an interlocking schedule with the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) while Sault Ste. Marie U12 to U15 AAA Teams will compete in a partial schedule versus Teams from ALLIANCE Hockey beginning the 2024-2025 season.
Teams from North Bay and Sudbury will play a total of nine (9) games each against OMHA competition, while Teams from Sault Ste. Marie will participate in 11 games against ALLIANCE Hockey Teams.
“The NOHA and its Member Associations is grateful to the OMHA, the OMHA AAA League, and to ALLIANCE Hockey and their Teams for their support in allowing our Teams to play against additional competition beginning next season,” stated NOHA President, Brian Beaupre. “With the U12 to U15 Divisions in the NOHA made up of either three (3) or four (4) Teams, these additional games will provide different competition for these athletes.”
“We are looking forward to welcoming North Bay and Sudbury to play games against OMHA teams. We believe this will only enhance the regular season schedule in our OMHA AAA League for teams,” said Craig Lane, OMHA President. “Thank you to the NOHA for their support in this initiative.”
“The ALLIANCE Hockey AAA Teams are thrilled to include the Sault Ste. Marie Teams in the ALLIANCE Hockey AAA League as of the 2024-25 season. By expanding the League in this way, we can further provide a positive player experience for all involved,” said Larry Moreland, ALLIANCE Hockey President. “We thank the NOHA for their initiative and look forward to welcoming the Sault Ste Marie teams in the fall.”
