In-depth Look at the 2026-2027 Soo U16AAA Greyhound Roster

The 2026 – 2027 Soo U16 AAA Greyhounds program is excited to officially unveil the 2026-2027 U16AAA roster, setting the stage for a highly competitive and dynamic season ahead. This year’s lineup brings together a diverse group of young athletes who have demonstrated exceptional skill, dedication, and sportsmanship in their development. With a blend of returning talent and promising newcomers, the roster reflects a commitment to fostering growth both on and off the ice.

As the team prepares for the upcoming season over the summer of 2026, fans can expect a fast-paced, hard-hitting style of play that emphasizes teamwork, strategic thinking, and resilience. Each player brings a unique set of strengths, from speed and agility to precision and defensive prowess, ensuring that the team is well-equipped to challenge opponents and pursue success at every level. The 2026-2027 U16AAA roster promises an exciting season filled with memorable moments, strong competition, and the continued growth of these young athletes as they aim to leave their mark on the ice.

When asked about the evaluation process in selecting the roster for the 2026–27 GNU18HL season, head coach Toms emphasized the importance of hockey sense and effort. “Simply, we were looking for players that had an awareness on the ice and a high compete level,” he said, pointing to the foundational traits the coaching staff prioritized throughout the selection process.

That identity is expected to carry directly into the team’s style of play this season. According to Toms, this group will be defined by its relentless approach. “Extremely hard working. They don’t seem to take a shift off,” he noted, highlighting a culture built on consistency and effort every time the team steps onto the ice.

Coach Toms also spoke about the makeup of the roster, which features a strong core of 12 returning players from last season’s U15AAA program, complemented by six new additions. “We did our homework on all the new additions. Their past coaches had nothing but good things to say about them,” Jeff explained. “It’s very important to us that everybody on this team is a great teammate.” That balance of familiarity and fresh talent is expected to play a key role in establishing early chemistry and maintaining a positive locker room environment.

As for expectations heading into the GNU18HL season, coach Toms is keeping the focus simple and grounded. “I’m not really one to set expectations or goals other than to keep improving. Try to get a little better every day and things will take care of themselves.” With that mindset, the Soo U16 AAA Greyhounds are poised to embrace the process, compete at a high level, and continue their development throughout what promises to be an exciting 2026–2027 campaign.
