Huskies Edge Colts in Girl’s High School Hockey Action in Thessalon

On Thursday, February 5th at the Thessalon Arena, the third-place CASS Huskies (2-3-2) skated to a hard-fought 2–1 victory over the second-place Korah Colts (6-1-1) in Sault Ste. Marie Girl’s High School Hockey League action. The matchup marked the Colts’ final regular-season game as they now turn their attention toward the 2026 postseason.

The Huskies opened the scoring midway through the first period. At 4:29, Riley Reed found the back of the net for her fourth goal of the season, finishing a play set up by Mkenzy Jarrell to give CASS a 1–0 lead. The goal proved to be the lone tally of the opening frame as both teams traded chances but remained tight defensively.

The second period saw strong goaltending at both ends of the ice, with neither side able to break through despite sustained pressure and quality scoring opportunities. Cassidy Cooke stood tall for the Huskies, while Britton Notte matched her save for save to keep the Colts within striking distance heading into the third.

Korah finally pulled even early in the final period. At 5:07, Aubrey Colletti tied the game at 1–1 with her eighth goal of the season, scoring unassisted to swing momentum back in favor of the Colts. The tie, however, was short-lived.

Just minutes later, at 2:37 remaining, the Huskies answered back. Kenneth Shaw scored her second goal of the season, converting a setup from Mika Stewart and Abby Daynard to restore the CASS lead at 2–1. The Huskies held firm down the stretch, sealing the win and closing out the regular season series strong.

Between the pipes, Cassidy Cooke earned the victory for the Huskies, while Britton Notte took the loss for the Colts in a tightly contested goaltending duel.

The Huskies will return to action on Monday, February 9th, when they face the St. Mary’s Knights at the Desbarats Arena with an 11:30 a.m. puck drop. Following that matchup, the Sault Ste. Marie Girl’s High School Hockey League postseason will begin on Wednesday, February 11th at the John Rhodes Centre, with the first seed taking on the fourth seed, followed by the second seed versus the third seed at 12:30 p.m.
