Hard Fought Championship Game Loss for U18 Black Sox in Gladwin, Michigan

In Sunday, June 18th Gladwin Baseball Tournament championship game in Gladwin, Michigan, the Soo Black Sox 18U fell behind early and couldn’t come back in an 8-0 loss to Mt Pleasant Post 110 AA on Sunday. Mt Pleasant Post 110 AA took the lead on a stolen base in the first inning.

The Soo Black Sox 18U struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Mount Pleasant Post 110 AA, giving up eight runs.

Mt Pleasant Post 110 AA got things moving in the first inning. Mount Pleasant Post 110 AA scored on a stolen base during Joey Miller’s at bat. Then Miller singled , driving in one.

Game Three
In their third game of the weekend on Saturday, June 17th, the Soo Black Sox 18U lost the lead late in a 7-3 defeat to Mount Pleasant Post A. The game was tied at three with Mount Pleasant Post A batting in the top of the seventh when Caleb Walker induced Payne to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.

Mount Pleasant Post A got things moving in the first inning, when.

Soo Black Sox 18U knotted the game up at three in the bottom of the sixth inning, when Whitman’s wild pitch allowed one run to score for Soo Black Sox 18U.

Whitman was the winning pitcher for Mount Pleasant Post A. The ace surrendered one run on one hit over two innings, striking out one and walking one.

Walker took the loss for Soo Black Sox 18U. The bulldog surrendered four runs on two hits over one and one-third innings, striking out one and walking one.

Game Two
In game two of the weekend, the Soo Black Sox 18U took the lead late and defeated Mt Pleasant Post 110 AA 8-7 on Saturday, June 17th. The game was tied at four with Soo Black Sox 18U batting in the top of the fourth when Carmine Perna singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

A four-run lead in the fourth inning was just enough for Soo Black Sox 18U to hold off Mt Pleasant Post 110 AA for the victory. Mt Pleasant Post 110 AA put up three runs in the failed comeback. Zade Garrett and Joey Miller picked up RBIs to lead the rally.

Mt Pleasant Post 110 AA got things moving in the first inning. Miller drove in one when Miller singled.

Soo Black Sox 18U pulled away for good with five runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Michael Starzomski singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run and Caleb Walker tripled on a 1-0 count, scoring three runs.

Mt Pleasant Post 110 AA scored three runs in the second inning. Mt Pleasant Post 110 AA batters contributing to the big inning included Joe McDonald and Tyler Geer, all knocking in runs in the inning.

Gladwin Lightning A knotted the game up at two in the bottom of the fourth inning, when Koshoek singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Lucas Carriere was credited with the victory for Soo Black Sox 18U. The bulldog surrendered zero runs on zero hits over two innings, striking out two and walking one. Gavin Lamming threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Ritchie was on the mound for Gladwin Lightning A. Ritchie lasted six innings, allowing six hits and five runs while striking out four. Meier threw one inning in relief.
