Greyhounds Drop Opener to TNT Tornados at U13AA OHF Championships

The Soo U13AA Greyhounds traveled east to Copper Cliff, Ontario over the April 17–19 weekend to represent Northern Ontario at the 2026 U13AA OHF Championships. Facing off against strong competition that includes the Leaside Flames, TNT Tornados, and host Copper Cliff Reds, the Greyhounds opened their tournament Friday morning against the TNT Tornados.

The Tornados struck first in the opening period, capitalizing on the powerplay at 8:27. Jack Fry scored his first goal of the championships, finishing a setup from Brody Cook and Carter Grant to give TNT a 1-0 lead heading into the intermission.

The Greyhounds responded in the second period, evening the score at 13:47. Walker Dugas found the back of the net for his first of the tournament, with Kobe Bodnar and Jaxson Stacy earning assists on the play. However, the Tornados answered back quickly. At 9:54, Gage Robertson restored the lead for TNT, converting a play from Hunter Meunier and Caleb Hewit. Just minutes later at 8:06, Carlo Farrington extended the Tornados’ advantage to 3-1, finishing a chance set up by Robertson.

The third period saw no further scoring, as both teams battled but were unable to break through defensively. TNT goaltender Austin Lourenco stood strong to secure the win, while Asher Caswell made a solid effort in net for the Greyhounds despite taking the loss.

With their opening game complete, the Greyhounds will look to bounce back and earn their first victory of the championships when they return to the ice Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. to take on the host Copper Cliff Reds.
