At the John Rhodes Centre on Monday, February 13th, the first place St Mary’s Knights hit the ice to take on the second place Korah Colts in Sault Ste Marie High School Hockey League action.
26 seconds into Monday’s matchup, Carter Lidstone finds the back of Colt netminder Troy Rossetto’s net to give the Knights a 1 – 0 lead. Cole Masse and Nik Vecchio drew the assists on Lidstone’s goal. At 3:44 of the period, Masse registers his second point of the game with St Mary’s second goal of the game with Koen Kurylo and Kyle Scarfone adding the helpers on Masse’s goal to give the Knights a 2 – 0 lead. With 41 seconds left in the period, Darion Pucci sends the Knights into the first intermission up 3 – 0 with Masse notching the lone contributor on Pucci’s goal. 49 seconds before the midway mark of the second, Ronan Provenzano pulls Korah within two with a Colt goal behind St Mary’s goaltender Liam Dubois. Kaylob Thibodeau and Owen Avery had the assists on Provenzano’s goal at the 10:49 mark. Knights defenseman Adrian O’Dell fires St Mary’s fourth of the game at 12:15 of the final period to bring the lead to 4 – 1. Nathan Palmer set up O’Dell’s goal. Darion Perraualt increases the lead to 5 – 1 for the Knights at 9:02 with Lucas Green and Pucci drawing the helpers on Perrault’s goal. Brayden Luzzi sinks St Mary’s sixth of the game at 6:02 with with Vecchio and Green adding the assists on Luzzi’s goal. Scoring an unassisted goal behind Rossetto, Thibodeau sinks the Colts second goal of the contest with 81 seconds left in the third. Lucas Green gives the Knights a 7 – 2 win with the St Mary’s seventh of the game with Vecchio and Lidstone contributing on Green’s third point of the game.
The Colts will now meet the Steelhawks on Tuesday, February 14th to close out the Sault Ste Marie High School Hockey League regular season at the McMeeken Arena.
