After cruising to a 7–1 victory over the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners across the St. Mary’s River on Friday, November 7th, the Soo Eagles were back on home ice Saturday night, November 8th, at Pullar Stadium looking to keep their momentum rolling against the visiting Sudbury Cubs.
The Cubs opened the scoring midway through the first period when Daks Klinkhammer notched his 15th of the season at 9:04, with assists from Owen King and Nolan Newton. Despite several quality chances, both goaltenders — Jace Knoerle for the Eagles and Matthew Vahramian for the Cubs — stood tall through the rest of the period and a scoreless second frame.
In the third, the Eagles came alive. At 4:00, Lucas Caulfield buried his 8th of the season, with helpers from Alex Povorozniouk and Gabriel Clark, to tie the game 1–1. Just over five minutes later, Micah Seery capitalized on a power play opportunity, scoring his 4th of the year off assists from Samuel Gold and Caulfield to give the home side the lead.
The momentum continued when Nolan Nemecek added an unassisted marker at 11:42 to make it 3–1 Eagles, and Anden Marceau sealed the win with his 18th of the season at 17:41, assisted by Ethan Hoff, capping off a four-goal third period and a 4–1 Soo Eagles victory.
With the win, the Eagles completed a perfect weekend and extended their strong run of form at Pullar Stadium. They’ll next hit the road to face the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners on Friday, November 14th, while the Sudbury Cubs return home to host the Espanola Paper Kings on Thursday, November 13th at 7:00 p.m.
