Colts, Steelhawks Skate to a Tie in High School Hockey Action

On Sunday, December 10th, the Korah Colts took to the ice at the John Rhodes Centre in Sault Ste Marie High School Hockey League action when they face the Superior Heights Steelhawks.

At 7:10 of the second period, Deago Campagna rifles a snapshot over Steelhawk netminder Tyler Greco’s left shoulder from between the faceoff circles in front of Superior Heights’ net to give Korah a 1 – 0 lead. Preston Miller and Owen Avery had the helpers on Campagna’s second of the season. With 2:55 remaining in the second, Owen Case fires a wrist shot from in front of the Colt goaltender Rylan Roy’s net to even the game 1 – 1 for the Steelhawks. Mathieu Tremblay and Alex Hoff notched the assists on Case’s fifth of the 2023 – 2024 high school season. With his fourth of the season, Jakob Briffet rushes from the Steelhawks blueline to evade three Korah players to slide Superior Heights’ go-ahead goal through Roy’s five hole to give the Steelhawks a 2 – 1 lead at 3:54 of the third. Curtis Bodnar added the lone contributor on Briffet’s goal. With 2:15 left in regulation, Mason Battacchio banks the tying goal of off Greco from behind the Steelhawks net to pick up his own rebound to send the game into overtime. Kaylob Thibodeau and Bodie Belair registered the helpers on Battacchio’s fifth of the season. After a three on three five minute overtime neither team could find the back of the net to finish the Sunday matchup at 2 – 2.

Colt Ethan Ferguson told Saultsports that “i feel like the boys had a pretty solid game, the effort was there, tried to keep the shots against pretty minimal, just had troubles getting the puck in the net. Greco was standing on his head, so props to him.”
