At the John Rhodes Centre on Sunday, December 8th, the third-place St. Mary’s Knights (5-4) faced off against the fourth-place Superior Heights Steelhawks (3-5) in an exciting Sault Ste. Marie High School Hockey League matchup. The game was a crucial one for both teams as they looked to improve their standings. Superior Heights came into the game with a slight edge, having won three of their first seven games, while the Knights were hoping to build on their strong start to the season.
The Steelhawks secured a 3-1 victory, powered by two powerplay goals, which helped them notch their fourth win of the season. Ayden Hamilton was the standout player for Superior Heights, scoring both of their goals before leaving the game with an upper body injury. In response, Darion Pucci netted the lone goal for the Knights in their fifth loss of the 2024-2025 season. Steelhawks goaltender Nelson was solid in net, stopping 23 of 24 shots, while St. Mary’s goaltender Dubois turned away 14 of 17 shots in a losing effort.
