Try Ringette for Free – Kids Ages 4–9 Welcome!

A fun, inclusive introduction to a uniquely Canadian ice sport.

Is your child curious about trying a new ice sport? The Sault Ringette Club invites kids ages 4–9 to a free “Come Try Ringette” event on Sunday, September 21, from 2:00 p.m – 4:00 p.m at the Northern Community Centre.

Ringette is a fast, exciting game that combines the speed of hockey, the teamwork of basketball, and the skill of lacrosse. What makes it truly special is the community—ringette is known for being welcoming, family-friendly, and inclusive. It’s a great way for kids to stay active, build confidence, and make new friends.

Boys and girls ages 4–9 who are trying ringette for the first time are encouraged to join in. Registration is also open for our FUN1 and FUN2 programs, so if your child enjoys the event, there’s still time to sign up at a low new-player rate. If you have an older child who would like to try ringette, please contact us at communications@saultringette.com to learn about registration options.

The afternoon will begin with a short introduction before kids lace up and head onto the ice to skate and give ringette a try. No experience is needed—our friendly volunteers will be on hand to guide them so the focus stays on fun. Please bring skates, a helmet, warm gloves or mitts, and a jacket. We’ll provide the sticks.

Advance registration is required: HERE.

“Ringette is a uniquely Canadian sport and one of the most welcoming communities you’ll find on the ice,” says Amy Peltonen, Club President. “We’re always excited to meet new skaters and especially encourage families who are new to the community to come give it a try.”
