After being handed a 22 – 6 loss in Sarnia on Saturday, June 17th to the Sarnia Imperials, the (2 – 1) Sault Steelers hit the field at Rocky DiPietro for a Saturday, June 24th contest against the visiting (1 – 1) Hamilton Jaguars in NFC football action.
At 8:12 of the opening quarter, Jaguar Dale picks a Steeler fumble at the Sault 15 yard line to carry the ball into the end zone to give the Steelers a 6 – 0 lead. The Steelers blocked the convert to keep the game at 6 – 0. Steeler Steve Hiiemma rushes for a three yard carry to tie the game 6 – 6 for the Sault at 7:30 of the first. Brady Smith finds the uprights for the convert to give the Sault a 7 – 6 lead. With 5:22 remaining in Saturday’s matchup, Steeler quarteback Ryan Yost gives the Sault their third win of the 2023 season with a three yard carry. Brady Smith kicks his second convert of the game to send Hamilton home with a 14 – 6 loss and improve the Steelers record to 3 – 1.

The (3 – 1) Steelers now head to North Bay on July 8th for a Northern Football Conference matchup against the (3 – 0) North Bay Bulldogs at Omischl Sports Complex.
