Over the Saturday, December 3 and Sunday, December 4 weekend, the Soo U18 Greyhounds took to the ice for a two game homestand against the visiting North Bay U18 Trappers at the John Rhodes Centre in Great North U18 League action.

Greyhound coach Jamie Henderson told Saultsports that “Saturday’s game we had a really good 2nd period which made the difference. We didn’t give up much and moved the puck around well. Today we went away from our typical structure and tried to do a lot by ourselves which led to a lot of turnovers and NB took it too us for much of the game winning most of the battles. You could tell they were the older bigger team today no doubt and they deserved the win.”

It’s exciting to be able to prepare for an important week here we’ll start Tuesday with practice and video to be ready to go Friday morning against one of the top teams in the province, added Henderson.

The Greyhounds will now take to the road to join nineteen other U18 AAA programs to take part in the 2022 Waterloo Gold Puck Tournament over the December 9th to December 11th weekend. Game one will be against the Barrie Colts on Friday, December 9th at 11:30 a.m. Game two will be at 5:15 p.m on Friday with a matchup against the Hamilton Jr Bulldogs. The Renfrew Wolves will be the Greyhounds third opponent with an 8:30 p.m puck drop on Saturday, December 10th. The Soo will round out their round robin with a 3:00 p.m start on Saturday when they meet the Nepean Raiders.
